With so many stores offering such a wide variety of adorable baby boy outfits, it can be difficult to discern what pieces of infant boy clothing are necessary for each passing season. Many of the infant boy outfits can be adorable, but it is important to think of practicality, function and quantity when it comes to outfitting a baby boy for the changing seasons.
During the fall and winter, baby boys will get the most use out of long-sleeve undershirts in a variety of colors and several pairs of fleece-lined sweatpants, jeans, and corduroys. Being able to mix and match these separates will maximize your baby’s wardrobe options.
A couple of special outfits for holidays and visiting relatives is all the baby will need, as these outfits can be expensive and they grow out of them quickly. A good snowsuit is also important for braving the winter weather. Choose one that covers the hands and feet to avoid losing mittens and shoes. If your baby is not walking, boots are not necessary. Fleece slipper socks and knit booties provide enough warmth, especially if they already are bundled in a snow suit.
The spring and summer seasons can be harsh on an infant’s skin. Combat heat rashes with an assortment of cotton tee-shirts, shorts, and summer one-piece rompers. Slightly loose clothing in light fabrics and colors will provide ease and comfort while your child spends more and more time outdoors. Again, feel free to splurge on a few “special occasion” outfits, but avoid buying more than you really need. Babies will wear a special outfit only once or twice before he outgrows it.
Focus on building a wardrobe of weather-appropriate separates that you can mix and match. The bulk of your baby’s time will be spent playing, and they need comfort more than style.
